L.A. CADA’s Serenity House is dedicated to serving gender-identity and gender-expression
fluid and diverse adults, 18 and over. The Serenity House is the first and only Medi-Cal
funded Residential treatment program dedicated to the transgender, intersex and non-binary populations.
The program design, from its conception, was to provide a safe, affirming, and respectful treatment
environment for highly stigmatized and marginalized persons
with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
The 18-bed facility, Licensed and Drug Medi-Cal Certified by the State of California, opened in August of 2024.
It is situated on a beautiful one-acre site in Altadena, California. The staff, curriculum and structure are intentional —
to best meet the needs of the population served.
A multi-disciplinary team of diverse professionals (clinicians, counselors,
and peer support specialists) provide trauma-informed, culturally competent, recovery-oriented, evidence-based services
in English and in Spanish.
Access to L.A. CADA’s Wellness Center provides additional professional medical and healthy living services, including a psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, and licensed pharmacist, offering physical health assessments, mental health assessments, psychotropic medications, withdrawal management medications and MAT, HIV prevention, intervention and testing services, as well as housing assistance, vocational counseling, legal navigation services and priority access to gender affirming care.
